Alison Hammond's ITV pal sends sweet message of support amid blackmail investigation

Alison Hammond’s This Morning pal has shared a simple and sweet message as she reportedly faces a difficult time.

Commentator Matthew Wright who often appears to debate topical issues and reviews the papers has sent a message to show he’s thinking of his co-star.

Alison, 48, has allegedly been subjected to blackmail claims in an eight month ordeal by a former friend who she’s reportedly given thousands to in order to keep up with his demands.

Reports indicate Alison had even bought him a £5,000 BMW car following his demands and is worried that by standing up to him, she might have made him angry.

Co star Matthew Wright sent a simple message as he wrote on Twitter: “Sending @AlisonHammond a hug xx.”

The news of Alison’s experience of blackmail was only made public this week with West Midlands Police confirming they are investigating the claims.

West Midlands Police confirmed to Daily Star: “We are investigating an allegation of blackmail of a woman in her 40s. We take reports of this kind very seriously and our enquiries are progressing swiftly.”

According to The Sun, Alison showed detectives the messages earlier this week and officers are now seeking the man, who it is claimed is a former friend of Alison’s.

The new Bake Off host reportedly told officers that the ordeal has been going on for eight months and that the alleged texts told her “I’ll ruin you” if she failed to send him more funds.

She allegedly now fears for her and her family’s safety after cutting him off.

Speaking to a close friend, Alison confessed: “I’ve been so naïve and feel so stupid.”

In another comment to a colleague, the Brummie star said: “He sent me a message stating that if I didn’t give him £3,500 he would ruin me.”

The Sun reported that Alison allegedly said earlier this week: “Now, I’m genuinely scared of what this man might do to me now that I’ve stopped with the handouts and reported him.”

It was claimed she told a friend: “But it was all so he could use me for my money. Now I feel so stupid. It is as though a veil has been lifted from my eyes.”

The devastating blackmail comes at a time when Alison should be celebrating after landing some of the top TV gigs including a presenting slot on this year’s BAFTA Awards in London alongside Oscar-nominated actor Richard E. Grant.

She has also landed a job presenting Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off, replacing comedian Matt Lucas in the role and appearing alongside Noel Fielding.
