Amanda Holden spills on 'date' with 'godlike' Simon Cowell before landing BGT role

Amanda Holden has been dogged by rumours of a romantic relationship with Simon Cowell for years.

However, in a recent interview with The Times, Amanda, 52, set the record straight.

Amanda went on to describe Simon as “godlike” and insisted that they’ve always just been friends.

“He teases me it was a date, but it wasn’t, told The Times. “We went out for dinner and I took my best friend.”

Recently, Britain’s Got Talent has gone through a major shakeup, with David Walliams departing the show after 10 years. In his place, former Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli has joined the panel.

But Amanda’s career hasn’t always been smooth sailing. She started out as a waitress before finding fame on the dating show Blind Date at just 19 years old.

“Simon Cowell likes to say he made people like me and it’s true. When I joined BGT there was no social media, so it was my chance to show people who I really am.

“In life you can’t make everyone like you, but at least I got a chance to change some of the perceptions about me.”

Although David Walliams recently announced his departure from the show, Amanda insists that there are no hard feelings between them.

She even revealed that she and fellow judge Alesha Dixon have plans to have dinner with David in a few weeks.

“It’s not the mafia we work for,” Amanda joked. “Oh my God, no! He decided to step away. It was just… time to step back.”

Amanda often steals headlines by posting insights into her life on Instagram.

She recently shared a video of herself noshing on some pringles, with some dubbing her performance “seductive.”

“Can I be a Pringle? Asking for a friend,” said one viewer.

“That’s strangely arousing,” another added, as a third quipped: “you even look sexi eating pringles.”
