BBC Breakfast in chaos as Sally Nugent forced to cut off interview due to 'huge' issue

BBC Breakfast descended into chaos for a minute on Wednesday (February 8) morning as host Sally Nugent was forced to pull an interview off the air.

Hosts Sally and Jon Kay were trying to interview BBC Middle East correspondent Tom Bateman to get the latest updates following the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.

But sadly, the presenters were forced to cut the segment short as ongoing sound issues made the correspondent extremely hard to hear.

Sally and Jon tried to press on with the interview, but eventually the technical difficulties got too much to handle so they had to step in and cut Tom off before the interview had finished.

She explained to viewers that although they normally cut interviews with technical issues sooner, they felt it was important to give viewers an idea of how serious the situation is after the earthquakes.

Sally told viewers: “So you can obviously tell from the situation there that the communications with Tom are challenging, and normally at that point we would cut away from someone.

“I know we’re having sound difficulties with, but I think it’s important just to stay with that for a moment, so we can get a sense of what Tom is experiencing, and the stories he is able to tell us.

She added: “So forgive us for the sound problems but obviously huge technical difficulties out in Turkey at the moment.”
