BBC Breakfast in major shake-up as Carol Kirkwood 'replaced' by rarely seen co-star

BBC Breakfast found itself in a major show shake-up during Thursday’s instalment of the morning programme as regular weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was nowhere to be seen.

The Scottish presenter, 60, who has been a fan favourite amongst fans for decades, typically shares the weather updates with viewers but was absent on February 9.

Her replacement is often fellow meteorologist Matt Taylor, however, it was Sarah Keith-Lucas, 40, who stepped in instead, promising Brits a dry start and mild spells across the weekend.

Meanwhile, Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt took up their usual spot on the iconic red sofa, sharing the top headlines of the day with viewers.

This comes after Carol playfully shut down her co-star Sally Nugent, 51, after the presenter made a promise about a “wild night” the following evening.

Before the weather presenter shared the forecast with the UK last week, Sally said: “Let’s go to Carol who earlier on promised us a wild night tomorrow.”

Jon, 53, added: “We’re looking forward to it.”

A giggling Carol replied: “Ah thank you, swiftly moving on from that” before giving viewers the latest “windy” weather updates.

Carol has been on the Breakfast team since 1983, making her the longest-serving presenter on the morning programme.

Her light-hearted personality means she often banters with her co-stars, but this meant she was forced to address rumours of an ongoing feud with Naga.

Speaking to The Sun last month, the weather woman completely shut down the rumours following a series of frosty on-air exchanges, insisting she loves her co-star and their playful interactions are purely just banter between friends.

“I love Naga and we just have banter. I love the camaraderie between us and everyone. It’s a good, fun job,” she told the publication.
