BBC Breakfast Sally Nugent shuts down Jon as complaint forces Carol Kirkwood apology

Sally Nugent was forced to jump to Carol Kirkwood’s defence while presenting BBC Breakfast after Jon Kay appeared to complain about the change in pollen levels.

The presenters were back on the famous red sofa on Monday (June 19), with forecaster Carol joining the pair for the latest weather highlights.

As Carol informed viewers that although the rain should hopefully end by the weekend but pollen levels will be fairly high, Jon was clearly not happy about it.

He asked: “We’ve got a couple of guests coming in later who are going to Glastonbury, I’m just trying to see… it looks like it’ll dry out at least, doesn’t it? In Somerset.”

Carol replied: “Yes, yes absolutely. There’s a chance for a shower on Wednesday but after that, it’s looking pretty dry and it’s getting warmer as well.”

She then warned: “But pollen levels will be high or very high.”

Disappointed, Jon joked: “You give with one hand and take with the other, Carol,” as Carol laughed and replied: “Sorry!”

Giggling, Sally then turned to Jon and said: “You know it’s not her fault, don’t you?”

Sally Nugent was quick to shut down Jon

Jon replied: “I know, I know,” while shaking his head jokingly.

As well as providing updates on BBC Breakfast, Carol is also an avid social media user and often updates her fans on the weather while on Twitter.

However, fans were left wondering where she had gone when they hadn’t heard from her in a while.

Thankfully she broke her Twitter silence last week after fans noticed that she hadn’t posted for a number of days.

Explaining what happened, she said: “I changed my phone and lost all access to my Twitter account for the last three weeks.

Carol left fans concerned when she was ‘missing’ from Twitter

“Huge thanks to Heather (especially) and Twitter Support for sorting it all out. It’s good to be back!!”

After seeing that Carol was back in action, fans commented under her post.

One social media user wrote: “Good afternoon Carol and anyone else reading this. I had wondered where you had landed…glad to have you back. Enjoy the rest of this glorious day.”

While another penned: “Was wondering where you had gone. Glad you’re back.”
