BBC Breakfast star left mortified after Ainsley Harriott slams door in his face

BBC Breakfast reporter Tim Muffett was left outside alone by TV chef Ainsley Harriott.

On Thursday (April 13), Tim and Ainsley were out in a local community to report on the ‘Big Lunch’ which sees neighbours get together for the Big Lunch.

The concept is a simple idea from the Eden Project – that people in the UK should have lunch with their neighbours annually on a weekend in June.

Though as they were knocking on doors to speak to some of the residents who were taking part, Ainsley appeared to leave Tim mid-report.

As Tim was talking to studio hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt – the presenters pointed out that the door had been shut in his face.

Reporter Tim was left looking baffled as he spoke to the studio and was lost for words as he threw his hands up in the air.

Tim then said: “I’m going to let you guys carry on chatting and I’m going to go back to the studio,” as he spoke to Ainlsey and a local lady by her front doorway.

But as Tim returned his attention back to the studio, Ainsley waved to the camera and slipped away into her home.

Charlie Stayt then said: “Oh, Ainsley has gone in, he’s really just gone right in.”

Turning around in shock, Tim gasped: “He’s gone in? He’s gone in…”

Naga laughed: “He makes friends very, very quickly.”

The two hosts then burst out laughing at Tim’s expense.

“You’re feeling left out, Tim?” Charlie asked. “Tim, thanks very much we’ll see you later.”

“Maybe he will get in the invite now, maybe he will get the invitation.

“I’ve just seen time going back to the door, to try to get in or to get Ainsley out, I don’t know,” Charlie concluded.

One viewer even took to Twitter to comment on the encounter and wrote: “Ainsley Harriott slammed the door in his face #bbcbreakfast”
