BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty missing from red sofa after shutting down vicious troll

BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty was absent from the morning programme on Friday (September 29), one day after she was forced to defend herself on social media.

The presenter, 48, normally hosts the BBC show alongside Charlie Stayt from Thursday to Saturday, but was notably missing from the red sofa during the latest instalment. Charlie, 61, resumed his spot in the studio in Salford, teaming up with BBC star Sarah Campbell, who is rarely seen on the iconic sofa.

Sharing a scathing rant online, one viewer wrote: “Tune into BBC Woman’s Hour now for some man bashing and then BBC Live from 11am for a phone in on why men are b****rds with Naga.” The BBC Radio 5 Live star had the perfect comeback as she simply responded: “Thanks for the free Ad. x”

Fans rushed the support the presenter after spotting the nasty remark, with one writing: “Nothing but love for Naga, a simple put down so eloquently put.” A second shared: “Naga’s subtlety, oozing class.”

Another joked: “Looks like the BBC Press team are spicing things up!” Hitting out directly at the troll, a fourth chimed: “Unbelievable. What a clot you are.” While someone else shared a GIF with the caption: “Why you gotta be so insecure?”

It comes after BBC Breakfast took an awkward turn when Strictly Come Dancing star Jowita Przystal shut down Naga’s “unfair” question. Naga said: “This is probably an unfair question but I’ll ask it anyway. How does he compare to how Hamza was in the early days.

Jowita, 29, replied: “I cannot compare them because they’re two different people and I will never do that. I said it’s a new book, new page and we’re riding it together and there’s no on else there. It’s just me and Jodi and I’m focused on Jodi because our journey is now and here just us together.”

Charlie replied: “A very diplomatic answer” as Naga added: “Although Jody will ask you over and over again, ‘Am I as good?’ Well I would anyway.”
