BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty missing from show as she's replaced by BBC co-star

BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty was missing from her spot on the red sofa during Thursday morning’s show (February 23).

Naga normally fronts BBC Breakfast with co-host Charlie Stayt from Thursday until Saturday from 6am until 9am, giving viewers across the country the best possible start to the day with the latest news and chat.

But she was nowhere to be seen near the end of the week, so viewers might have been forgiven for looking twice at their screens when they woke up on Thursday.

And luckily for Charlie, he wasn’t left to host the BBC One morning programme on his own as Naga’s co-star Nina Warhurst was brought in to replace her.

It’s not currently known why Naga was unable to host the show [at time of writing], but many BBC Breakfast hosts like Naga can’t always host the show as they have busy broadcasting schedules.

As well as BBC Breakfast, Naga hosts her own Radio 5 Live phone-in show from Monday to Wednesday, where she chats to viewers about the latest issues facing the country.

BBC Breakfast has a number of relief hosts who step in to front the show when the main presenters aren’t available to do so, including Ben Thompson.

Nina herself is a relief presenter for Breakfast, but she’s also a business and consumer presenter on the programme.

She began working for BBC Breakfast in 2018 and was appointed the show’s main business presenter in 2020, taking over from Channel 4 presenter Steph McGovern who now hosts Steph’s Packed Lunch.

Naga has been at the BBC for years, having also worked on BBC World News and other shows on the channel.

She’s also presented the BBC’s Newscast podcast and in 2016 fronted Newsnight on BBC Two.

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One at 6am
