BBC Morning Live’s Gethin Jones announces major career news as he gushes ‘job of dreams’

BBC star Gethin Jones has announced he’s landed the “job of dreams”.

The Morning Live presenter, 45, has taken to Instagram to share some exciting career news with his fans.

He will be the host of the brand new Rugby World Cup 2023 official podcast.

The opening episode will launch on Thursday (July 20).

A message posted on the official account for Rugby World Cup 2023 read: “New Podcast Alert.

“The Official #RWC23 Podcast presented by @asahisuperdry. Starring an incredible array of talent from rugby and beyond! Filled with brilliant stories of cross team friendships and the greatest team talks, all over an ice-cold Asahi Super Dry.”

Posting it to his Instagram Story, former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Gethin penned: “I mean, it’s job of dreams stuff.”

“These legends were insightful, funny, and a bit emotional with the Webb Ellis (don’t call it a trophy) cup in front of them..”

Gethin is currently the presenter of BBC Morning Live, which airs weekdays at 9:15am.

His career began on S4C as a presenter of children’s programmes such as Popty, Mas Draw and the flagship children’s entertainment show Uned 5.

In 2005, Gethin joined Blue Peter as a presenter and since then has gone on to host a Saturday show on BBC Radio 5 Live, participated in Soccer Aid, presented the documentary series Crime and Punishment and Heart Network’s Sunday Morning Breakfast.

Gethin began presenting the daily morning magazine show Morning Live on BBC One, alongside Kym Marsh in 2020.

It comes after Gethin said he felt “really scared” when his name began circulating online in regards to the suspended BBC presenter accused of paying more than £35,000 to a teenager in return for sexually explicit pictures.

During a recent instalment of the programme, he said: “I was at a friend’s wedding [over the weekend] and on Sunday night, I saw my name being spread on social media.
