BBC Strictly pro Dianne Buswell sparks concern with cryptic ‘personal life’ comment

Strictly Come Dancing star Dianne Buswell has worried fans with a cryptic comment about her “personal life” in an interview.

The long-term Strictly fan favourite has been working non-stop on this season with EastEnders star Bobby Brazier. But she has opened up about the struggles she is going through behind the scenes as her father Mark is undergoing treatment for cancer back in Australia.

Speaking to Heat magazine, the stunning redhead opened up about being paired with Bobby on the hit BBC One series. She said: “I am such a hard-working, crazy dancer that it’s been a really nice balance, where Bobby has brought a lot of calmness into my life.

“There has been quite a lot of going on in my personal life over these past few months, and Bobby has been really realistic and supportive, telling me everything’s going to be OK.” She continued: “It’s crazy that such a young guy can have such a good mind on him.”

Dianne herself didn’t specify the exact nature of what has been taking its toll on her. But her father started chemotherapy in his native Australia last month and Dianne shared an emotional post about him undergoing his first treatment.

She told her brave dad she was “so proud” of him on her Instagram account with an image of him laying in a hospital bed ahead of his first round of gruelling chemotherapy treatment. The 34-year-old shared a loving daughter to father message in the photo caption that said: “I’m so proud of you, Dad. First round of chemotherapy today!”

“I wish I could be there to hold your hand and support you in person, but I do know that I’m making you so proud over here in my concert every week! The Australian nurses and doctors are now very aware of Strictly Come Dancing, as my dad won’t stop talking about it.”

She ended the message by cheering her dad on: “You can do this, daddy. Go Mark.”

Dianne sparked fears a few months ago that all was not well between her and long-term boyfriend Joe Sugg, 32, whom she fell in love with when he competed on the show back in 2018. She was seen fighting tears following her Tango with Bobby and told host Claudia Winkleman: “He has just been a massive rock this week, so thank you.”

Viewers took X, formerly Twitter, at the time back in October to ask: “Hope no issue with Dianne and Joe Sugg. This show really does test relationships.” But Dianne quickly reassured fans all was okay between them by sharing a video of him watching the routine on TV saying he loved it, then later him cooking up a big Sunday roast dinner for her.

Celeb partner Bobby will understand what Dianne is going through, having lost his mother, Jade Goody, to cervical cancer, when just a little boy. The Big Brother legend died aged just 27 in March 2009, and he performed his Couple’s Choice dance in tribute to her last month.
