Cardi’s first ever job was as a Deli assistant at an Amish Deli. However, the star was soon fired after she gave one of her friends a hefty discount.

When she was fired, Cardi claimed she was told by her boss to go and work at the strip club across the street. She said: “He didn’t say you’d be better [off], he was just like, ‘You have a nice body, I’m telling you, you should just work across the street. They make so much money, you look like one of those girls, I’m telling you.’”

Stripper

Taking the advice from her boss, she joined the strip club across the street. Even now, Cardi reflects on the time as “really positive” adding that it “saved her. The rapper explained she went back to school after starting at the club.

Cardi, who was in an abusive relationship at the time and had been kicked out of her mother’s house, said she became a stripper to escape poverty and domestic violence. However, she didn’t tell her mum how she was making her money until a lot later on.

The rapper previously explained that she told her parents she was babysitting. She opted to lie after feeling “guilt and shame”, but when the money came in, things changed.
