Caroline Flack’s mum sends message to Phillip Schofield after bombshell BBC interview

Caroline Flack’s mother Christine has shared her support for Phillip Schofield while taking aim at broadcaster ITV.

Ex-This Morning star Phillip, 61, compared himself to former Love Island host Caroline after admitting to having an affair with a young ITV staff member.

In a new interview with the BBC, Phillip said he was “broken” and had “lost everything” while stating that his daughters saved his life.

He asked viewers if they wanted him dead and said he knew how Caroline, who tragically took her own life following online abuse, felt.

Caroline Flack’s mother Christine has spoken out about the treatment of Phillip Schofield

After Phillip’s bombshell interview, Christine spoke openly to Newsnight to blast ITV’s treatment of Phillip, claiming it hadn’t learned lessons since her daughter’s death.

She said: “I hate the thought that Philip and this young man are going through such an awful time. It’s bad enough when it’s in private, but when it’s in every single paper and first thing on the news.

“It’s just ridiculous. Wait to see what happens,” she said.

She then continued: “Let’s hope for the best. I send my regard to Philip and the young lad, and hope they get over this. Don’t do anything silly. You’ve got your daughters, you’ve got your friends.”

“And I hope the young lad’s got someone as well, that they can talk to.”

When asked whether ITV had learned anything since the passing of her daughter Caroline in 2020, Christine said “No”.

She added: “They haven’t learned anything. They haven’t. They treat them as commodities. I know it’s a lovely job and they earn money. But also the television stations earn money from them.

“But they’re not commodities, they’re people. And they’re employed. And if my employer didn’t take care of me, there’d be all hell to pay.

Christine also believes that Phillip may have “safe-guarded” ITV with the way in which he handled things and by releasing his own statement.

The former ITV star said his daughters saved his life

During his interview with journalist Amol Rajan, Phillip alarmed viewers with his revelations regarding his affair with the young male who worked at ITV.

Giving insight into his mental health, the father of two said: “If my girls hadn’t been there, I wouldn’t be here. Because I don’t see a future. How much do you want a man to take – and are you truly only happy when he’s dead?

“This is how Caroline Flack felt and it didn’t stop.”
