Steph’s Packed Lunch was thrown into chaos after comedian Big Narstie “genuinely” fell asleep live on-air.

The hit Channel 4 was back on TV screens on Tuesday (May 29) live from Leeds for another afternoon of food, hot topics and plenty of laughs.

And joining host Steph McGovern was the likes of rapper Big Narstie and Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews..

But things took a rather awkward turn during the show when the MC fell fast asleep – causing Steph to rush over and wake him up.

“Is it true? Big Narstie is asleep?” pondered Steph, as she looked over to see him fast asleep on the sofa.

“See that’s what late night telly does for you,” Steph quipped.

“We’re not even kidding by the way, Big Narstie is genuinely asleep!”

“Shall I go over and try and wake up?” she mused, before getting up and walking over to the sleeping TV presenter.

She then whispered his name, before lightly touching his shoulder – but it seemed Narstie was flat out

“You alright love? Oh he’s snoring,” she added.

Host Steph had to halt show to wake him up

Suddenly, Narstie woke up, and looked rather embarrassed, causing the studio audience to roar with applause.

“Are you getting a few Z’s in?” Steph asked, while bursting out into laughter.

Rubbing his eyes, Narstie found the incident funny himself and laughed along with Steph and his co-stars.

It comes after the show faced a major shake-up last week – with an iconic Line Of Duty star stepping in to replace Steph.

On Thursday (May 25) the show was hosted by double BAFTA-winning actress Anna Maxwell Martin.

Anna joined the Steph’s Packed Lunch team live in Leeds, making her live daytime TV presenting debut.

She interviewed the Scummy Mummies Ellie Gibson and Helen Thorn about their latest tour, and revealed three of the new breed of Gladiators, all while confronting her biggest fear live on air – fruit.

The Motherland star was also joined by former Strictly Come Dancing star John Whaite in the kitchen to learn how to keep her cakes moist.
