CITV host admits she romped with pop star and footy ace in dressing room after show

CITV was the home of many kids TV shows including Horrid Henry, Art Attack and My Parents Are Aliens.

It saw many famous faces join the show before making their mark on their career in showbiz years later, including the likes of Stephen Mulhern and Danielle Nicholls.

Danielle, who now works on Talk TV, has many fond memories of being at CITV with her co-host Stephen Mulhern, and was sad to see it go, particularly as it held a fond memory for her marriage.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, she said: “I remember when I was only 19 years old and and on CITV I snogged a pop star in the dressing room.

“It was quite cheeky, but I did even more than that with a footballer. The good news there is that I ended up marrying him, so that was okay!”

Both cheeky moments took place in the dressing room, but the moment with the footballer turned into something more than an on-set fling.

After speaking about her cheeky moments on set, Danielle also opened up on why she thinks cutting CITV is a bad decision.

She admitted she thinks the axing of the channel will have a knock-on-effect with other presenters and will ultimately stop new talent finding its way to daytime TV.

Danielle said: “It’s really sad they’re taking children’s television away. There are all these really famous presenters that came from it, Ant and Dec, Cat Deeley, Andi Peters.”

She added: “I think it’ll have a knock on effect in television in general. Kids TV is where you learn your trade, it’s where you learn the business and you have natural progression.”

Her comments comes shortly after ITV confirmed the programme will be closing after 40 years on air.

A spokesperson for ITV said: ” As a consequence of this new streaming approach and responding to the changing ways children and their parents are increasingly accessing content.

“The CITV broadcast channel will close after the summer holidays on 1st September.”
