Coronation Street actor claps back after being mistaken for another soap star

Coronation Street’s Lisa George, who plays Beth Tinker, has hit back after she was mistaken for another soap star.

The 52-year-old has been a regular on the hit ITV soap – first setting foot on the cobbles back in 2011.

Throughout her time on the iconic programme, Beth has been involved in several hard-hitting storylines – including her niece Sinead’s battle with cervical cancer.

Tragically, Sinead, played by Katie McGlynn, passed away in heartbreaking scenes aired in 2019.

Fast forward to now, and the pair recently reunited earlier this week for a gorgeous snap at an event in Manchester.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (March 22), Katie, who has since starred in Hollyoaks, posted a selfie of the former soap relatives together.

As expected fans went wild in the comments section – but one follower mistook Lisa for another soap star – and she wasn’t too happy.

The two soap stars beamed got the camera, with Lisa rocking a gorgeous lime green jumpsuit that did wonders for her figure.

Meanwhile, Katie oozed glamour and confidence, donning a full face of makeup.

“You might have only been my auntie Beth on-screen, but us two are family for life,” the 29-year-old sweetly penned the snap.

Fans of the pair couldn’t get enough of their reunion, with one writing: “How beautiful are you two!? I miss Sineeaad and auntie Beth.”

Echoing their thoughts, someone else gushed: “Both looking beautiful.”

“Auntie and niece or sisters?” quipped a third smitten follower.

However, one of Katie’s followers commented: “U look gorgeous Katie, is that Les Battersby’s wife??”

And the social media user’s query didn’t go amiss from Lisa who soon hit back. “No it bloody well isn’t!”

Less Battersby had two wives, Janice, played by Victoria Entwistle and Cilla, played by Wendi Peters.

Since 2011, Lisa has won over the nation thanks to her role as Beth Tinker, but she played two other roles on Corrie before becoming a permanent fixture in Weatherfield.

Her first time on Corrie came back in 1997, when she appeared as a young nurse working alongside Martin Platt.

She later appeared as a Family Liason Officer working on the investigation into Tommy Harris’s murder – appearing for five episodes between March and April 2005.

Before any of that, though, she appeared in The Bill as Melissa Wilson – for one episode in 1994.

She’s also worked on the medial drama Holby City (2004), and even Corrie’s rival ITV soap Emmerdale when she played a guest role as Pauline Arkwright.
