Coronation Street newcomer Claire Sweeney has opened up about her future on the ITV soap.

Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Plummer) was forced to take action by convincing her former drug addict daughter to leave the street and curb her addictions by going cold turkey in a hotel room for two weeks.

Fans of the soap are aware that Tyronne is under the impression his mother is dead after Evelyn lied to him years ago and said she’d passed away.

Speaking about her upcoming return, Claire told Lorraine Kelly on her ITV show that she’s back filming with her “amazing” co-stars and fans can expect her back on screen next month.

She said: “I’m back in the thick of filming. I’m working with the wonderful Alan Halsall, Maureen [Lipman] and Sally Carman as well.

“All these great people, I love it.”

In a recent interview with Daily Star and other press, Claire teased a messy meeting between Cassie and Abi Webster (Sally Carman).

When asked if the duo will be sharing any scenes coming up, Claire revealed: “I think that might be on the cards, yeah.

“I think, you know, I don’t know if Abi wants to help Cassie or not, I don’t know that far in the storyline but there are a few scenes with them together at the moment, yeah.”

It comes as fans predict the pair may have met in a rehabilitation unit in the past, with many convinced recovering addict Abi will become her sponsor.

One user suggested: “Abi’s gonna be Cassie’s sponsor #Corrie”.

Another agreed: “I think Abi could help Cassie get clean? Abi has just told Evelyn that she is 15 months sober from a drug addiction #Corrie.”

Someone else typed: “In six months time Cassie will have turned her life around and will be working on the Cobbles… Abi, Kyle, rinse and repeat.. #Corrie.”

A fourth person echoed: “Is Cassie another variation of Abi? Abi 2.0? I don’t doubt Maureen and Claire will be good but I’m unsure #Corrie.”
