And it appears as though he has impressed his close friends and family too, after his proud cousin gushed over his famous family member in an exclusive interview with Daily Star and other press.

When asked if he had caught up with Will since he got the job, he confessed: “Actually I’ve not spoken to him since he landed the role in Emmerdale, but I’m really hoping to catch up with him soon.

“But he’s doing great work. I’m loving it, I’m loving it,” he added before cheekily cheering on the rival soap, saying: “Go on the Ashes!”

It comes as his character’s terminal condition continues to worsen while he pushes to try out a new experimental drug that aims to slow down the progression of motor neuron disease.

In recent weeks, Paul has slowly started to lose the ability of his limbs, initially starting with his right hand which has now progressed to his left foot, leaving him with a prominent limp.

With his twin sister’s Gemma Winter’s wedding to Chesney Brown right around the corner, tensions have started to rise as he continues to hide his condition from his friends and family.
