Curb Your Enthusiasm axed after 12 seasons as fans mourn ‘end of an era’

HBO iconic sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm has been axed after its upcoming 12th season.

The writer and comedian of the Hollywood show Larry David has announced that he is ending the much-loved series. As The Hollywood Reporter, Larry released a statement about the end of the show.

He said: “As Curb comes to an end, I will now have the opportunity to finally shed this ‘Larry David’ persona and become the person God intended me to be — the thoughtful, kind, caring, considerate human being I was until I got derailed by portraying this malignant character.

“And so ‘Larry David,’ I bid you farewell. Your misanthropy will not be missed. And for those of you who would like to get in touch with me, you can reach me at Doctors Without Borders.”

Additionally, HBO CEO Casey Bloys said: “It’s hard to say farewell to such a ground-breaking, brilliantly funny and iconic series like Curb Your Enthusiasm, which has left its mark across television and the comedy genre.”

“Working alongside Larry David and Jeff Schaffer as well as all of the comedic masterminds that comprise our producers, cast and crew has been a joy that I will always treasure,” Bloys concluded.

Another penned: “Mixed emotions but can’t wait to watch.” A fourth wrote: “”One last ride for the king of television,”

Back in March, The Hollywood Reporter reported that season 12 would mark the end for HBO’s longest-running comedy. It was claimed David’s current deal with the premium cable network was expiring this year.

Curb Your Enthusiasm followed Larry playing a fictionalized and exaggerated version of himself. It launched in 2000 and ran for eight seasons.

It then took a six-year break and made a return in 2017. Fans will be able to watch 10 episodes of the final season, released weekly on Sundays at 10pm, starting from February 4 next year.
