Dancing On Ice viewers fume as they demand change for next series after ‘unfair’ final

Following the Dancing On Ice jaw-dropping final, plenty of viewers have demanded several changes for next year’s series.

The hit ITV show, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, came to an end on Sunday (March 12) with a seriously-tense final.

Battling it out was TOWIE alum Joey Essex, drag queen The Vivienne and former Olympian Nile Wilson.

Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse joined head judges Jayne and Chris on the ice panel and the famous foursome offered their verdicts to the remaining three couples.

Each pair performed in the Battle Skate against their rivals as well as a Showcase routine, where they got the chance to impress viewers with the moves they’ve learned across the series.

However, it was ultimately Nile who was crowned the 2023 Dancing On Ice champ – after wowing the nation, and judges, with his version of the iconic Boléro skate.

But following the result, fans of the hit ITV show soon took to Twitter to demand changes to be made to the format next year.

“Next year, Cast more female ringers, Bench Vanessa or give her a duffer, Bring back Hamish and Put Jayne & Chris back as coaches.”

Other fans, begged bosses not to include celebs with athletic experience, following Nile’s win.

“Nile is amazing but has a big advantage,”‘said one viewer.

Echoing their thoughts, a second penned: “Next series should have contestants with NO dance, gymnastic performance experience.”

The same social media user went on: “I want it going back till when your first skate scores were 3’s and 4’s. The last few years have been won by professional dancers or Olympic gymnastic performers.”

“Is this a gymnast show or what?” raged someone else.

Another person added: “I do think gymnasts have an unfair advantage on Dancing On Ice. They’re used to routines.”

A fifth agreed: “So what’s the difference in an Olympic gymnast winning & someone with a dance background??

“Joey went from not able to stand up on the ice to the final, surely that’s what the show is meant to be about??.”

Nile Wilson and Olivia Smart were revealed as 2023 champions during Sunday’s final.

Both Joey and Nile got to dance the iconic Bolero after The Vivienne was announced as third place.
