Danny Dyer 'ticking time-bomb' after leaving EastEnders as he slams 'toxic' fame

EastEnders star Danny Dyer reckons he’ll soon be cancelled by woke campaigners for making an offensive comment now he no longer works for the BBC.

The actor’s Mick Carter character is presumed dead after he dived in the Chanel to save his ex-wife Linda in last year’s Christmas special.

Dyer, 45, reckons he’s a “ticking time bomb” now he’s left the show because he doesn’t have to worry about saying something that would get him in trouble with BBC bosses.

He said: “It’s a tricky time at the moment.

“With cancel culture you can’t really say too much, you can’t really have an opinion on much.

“But I was in EastEnders for 10 years and worked for the BBC so I had to behave myself and now I’m out.”

Although Danny became a household name thanks to his time on Albert Square, he admits he doesn’t enjoy being famous and thinks a lot of celebrity culture is “toxic”.

He added: “There’s a lot of b******s that goes with celebrity. There’s a lot of fake, toxic s**t.

“I think we need to use our platforms in the right way and be kind and considerate to others … We forget what fame is and people get wrapped up in the other side of it.”

Last month Danny’s broke down in tears at his Eastender’s leaving bash because he feared he made a mistake by quitting the role.

He said: “I did have a leaving do and I was questioning if I’d made the right decision. I did a little speech. There were a lot of tears.

“It’s very emotional for me. When I watch the show, I do miss it.”

Singer Robbie Williams recently told he also lives in fear of cancel culture.
The 48-year-old said: “You can get cancelled for anything, and I’m not talking about sexual, I’m just talking about anything that you say, what particular day you wake up on the wrong side of history, you are a relic from the last century where we thought and felt different things.

“You are 15 seconds away from being cancelled at any moment and that doesn’t feel comfortable.”
