EastEnders fans sobbing as Whitney gives birth to Peach in heartbreaking scenes

EastEnders fans were devastated after watching Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) deliver her baby girl in gut-wrenching scenes.

In recent weeks, Whitney and Zack Hudson (James Farrar) discovered their unborn baby had been diagnosed with Edwards Syndrome, a condition that means most babies won’t survive long after birth.

After learning the devastating news, the pair had to decide whether or not to continue with the pregnancy.

Whitney eventually decided to terminate her pregnancy and in Friday’s episode (March 3), she went into early labour and delivered baby Peach with Zack by her side.

In scenes leading up to the birth, Whitney was supported by a nurse who assured they could do whatever they needed and could hold their baby once she was born.

But Whitney insisted she didn’t want to hold her baby girl and would instead remember her from the scan.

Zack held a devastated Whitney as her labour continued, and she finally gave birth to their baby girl.

Whitney had a sudden change of heart and begged the midwife to bring over her baby, and she and Zack gazed down at their daughter.

In the incredibly moving scene, they decided to honour her nickname and officially call her Peach.

“It’s perfect. She’s Peach. That’s her name. It always has been. I’m so sorry Peach. I’m sorry for how it ended. I’m sorry that I’m sad. I just wished it was different,” whispered Whitney as she cradled their precious baby girl.

“You are so perfect. And I know your little heart might not be beating and you might not be breathing, but you’ll always be my little girl,” Whitney sobbed before tenderly kissing Peach.

She then thanked Peach for making her a mum, leaving fans in tears as they took to social media to share their heartbreak.
