EastEnders Keanu star’s weight loss journey as cruel jibe made him drop four stone

EastEnders star Danny Walters was pushed to transform his body after receiving a hurtful comment in his youth.

The actor, 30, made his debut as Keanu Taylor in 2017 and has been at the centre of the drama in recent weeks in the build up to his wedding to Sharon (Letitia Dean). During Monday’s explosive Christmas episode (December 25), the couple prepared to say their vows before they were interrupted by Phil (Steve McFadden).

Phil dropped the bombshell on Sharon that Keanu was behind Albie’s kidnapping. A devastated Sharon then threw her own curveball, revealing that Albie is Phil’s biological son and not Keanu’s.

Now, as it has been revealed Keanu was actually the victim killed in the flash-forward episode, Daily Star has looked back at his weight loss journey which saw him drop four stone. When the actor was on holiday, he revealed a cruel jibe kickstarted his transformation. The hurtful comment even left him in tears.

During an appearance on the My Time Capsule podcast, he told host Mike Fenton Stevens: “We were talking to these two girls on the sun loungers and I came out and said, ‘hey’ and they turned around and said ‘oh my God, who’s this ugly fat guy?’ I was like, ‘woah’ and my brother said, ‘hey, that’s really harsh.’ I started crying and ran off.”

Danny’s fitness regime kickstarted from that moment as he didn’t want to be seen as the “funny fat guy”. He added: “I was like, ‘I’m done with that. I want girls to like me, I want girls to love me’.”

He dropped four stone

His love for fitness began in 2018 when he started working closely with a personal trainer. Danny’s before and after photos were shared by Harry Smith, who praised him for his hard work.

The personal trainer wrote: “He was bang on his calorie target every day. This is really hard to do, especially when life happens. There was a couple of weeks where we had to work around some really stressful events too but he still nailed it. He followed a flexible diet where he could have treats but he still made sure he ate all his fruit and veg every day.”

Working alongside Harry grew Danny’s confidence as he explained on the personal trainer’s website. The soap star shared: “Since working/training with Harry Smith, I feel like I’m starting to get in the best shape of my life. I will never stop improving.”

He added: “I finally feel confident in my body and feel like I am now on the right path to achieve greatness. As an actor working on TV and stage, I do multiple auditions a week and will be judged within the first five seconds I walk into the audition room.”
