EastEnders’ storyline for Ian and Cindy Beale’s huge BBC soap return ‘revealed’

EastEnders duo Ian and Cindy Beale are set to make a sensational comeback to the popular soap, but it looks like they’ll be ditching Albert Square for the South of France.

Cindy will be heading back to Walford after more than 20 years away, with actress Michelle Collins reprising the role.

According to reports, viewers will be treated to scenes of the former couple trying to flog their questionable grub at a farmers’ market stall.

Michelle Collins will reportedly be making a miraculous return from the dead, joining forces once again with Adam Woodyatt, 54, who plays fan-favourite Ian.

This summer, we can expect to see Ian and Cindy roll up in a Citroen van, packed to the brim with sandwiches, and ‘flogging baguettes’.

According to The Sun, Ian, who is not exactly fluent in French, resorts to using a translation app on his phone to communicate with the locals.

Unfortunately for the pair, their catering skills don’t quite cut it, and the Frenchies turn up their noses at their offerings.

Frustrated, Ian comments that back in Walford, those sandwiches would have been snapped up in no time.

A TV insider told The Sun that bosses wanted to give fans a backstory to explain where the dynamic duo has been all these years.

“Bosses wanted to deliver a backstory which explains where they’ve both been all these years,” they told The Sun.

The source added: “It’s not entirely clear how or when they rekindled their romance, or how they ended up in France, but it appears they’re back together as a couple.

“It’s a brilliant and hilarious twist to see them continue their culinary escapades and work on market stalls, just like they used to on Albert Square.”

The scenes were filmed earlier this month at a quaint farmhouse in Hertfordshire, near the Elstree Studios.
