Florence Pugh ‘refuses to hide cute little nipples’ after sheer dress backlash

Florence Pugh has defended herself after backlash for wearing a totally see-through Valentino dress.

She praised her “cute little nipples” during an interview with Elle UK and opened up about her personal style.

Pugh said: “I speak the way I do about my body because I’m not trying to hide the cellulite on my thigh or the squidge in between my arm and my boob; I would much rather lay it all out.”

Florence then admitted that “the scariest thing for her” are the “instances when people get upset” because she has “shown too much of herself”.

She went on: “When everything went down with the Valentino dress a year ago, my nipples were on display through a piece of fabric and it really wound people up.”

“Unfortunately, we’ve become so terrified of the human body that we can’t even look at my two little cute nipples behind fabric in a way that isn’t sexual.”

Florence then said that people “need to keep reminding everybody” that there is “more than one reason for women’s bodies to exist”.

Although she received a tonne of backlash over the see-through ensemble, Florence actually had an interesting take.

She told Elle that “every woman she walked past” would tell her that she “looked like she was having so much fun,” to which she replied: “And I was!”

The Midsommar actress said that “some of her proudest moments” have been in Pierpaolo’s designs and described Valentino as “her armour”.

This isn’t the first time Pugh has spoken out about her controversial fashion moment.

Back in January, Florence asked Vogue “how her nipples can offend people” after a number of trolls online discussed her risqué dress.

It appears that this didn’t set her back, however.

Almost a year on from the viral sheer dress, Florence wore a very similar dress to the 2022 Valentino Haute Couture fashion show.

The Don’t Worry Darling actress is certainly not shy of making a bold fashion statement every now and then.

Pugh, who formerly had long blonde locks, decided to switch up her look for a bright pink buzz cut back in May 2023 for the Met Gala.
