Gladiators icon Hunter looks totally unrecognisable after swapping showbiz for yoga

Gladiators star Hunter looks unrecognisable after quitting the hit show and turning his back on the showbiz world.

The strapping 6ft 3’ hunk, named James Crossley, shot to fame on the hit ITV show between 1993 and 2000.

Renowned for his luscious flowing hair and rippling abs, the athlete became one of the most popular faces on the series.

With men wanting to be him and women wanting to date him, James quickly gained TV star status.

James, who was just 19 when he was recruited for the show, came back to the Gladiators universe in 2008 though – when Sky rebooted the programme.

He hit the headlines too when he dated the show’s host Ulrika Jonsson – a relationship she denied until she confirmed it in her 2003 autobiography.

But since the noughties, James has quit the extreme spots and competition world and instead has been focused on a different kind of exercise.

The now 50-year-old spends his time teaching yoga – something he decided to do after a string of injuries, according to his bio at the studio he works at.

When he headed to a Bali yoga retreat in Indonesia, it was there he became transfixed with gong baths and decided to train in the method.

He’s also dabbled in the acting world for a few years, before setting on a career in the sports industry.

As well as being a personal trainer, he is also the owner of a successful consultancy business, Chelsea Fitness.

In other Gladiator news, the line-up for the new rebooted series was finally revealed last month.

16 phenomenal Gladiators will compete in a series of brand new challenges alongside classic games against a brave set of contenders in the ultimate test of strength and speed in the most iconic sports entertainment gameshow returning to BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The new stars appearing on the programme have been revealed periodically but all appeared in the first group snap in May ahead of their debut.

It was previously announced that Bradley and Barney Walsh will host the revamped version of Gladiators.
