I’m A Celeb Jamie Lynn’s heartaches – daughter ‘not alive’ to husband’s car crash

Jamie Lynn Spears has had decades of heartache to deal with before her short stint on ITV reality show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

The Zoey 101 star, who fell pregnant aged just 15, had to deal with being exiled to a cabin in the woods to play out her pregnancy away from the media, as well as coping with her baby daddy’s substance abuse and alleged cheating. Compared to that, a few nights in the Australian rainforest might not seem like a lot, but Jamie Lynn has also been battling mental health conditions and struggling away from her family.

While her older sister Britney was placed under a conservatorship, Jamie Lynn insisted she made no money from her sister’s financial situation and wanted to stick by her. But the pair have been engaged in a very public feud for years now.

To make matters worse, her husband Jamie was accused of causing a car crash that killed three people, while her daughter Maddie almost died in a horror ATV accident at their home in Louisiana. She’s opened up about her life at home on the show – but fans are devastated they won’t get to learn more.

Daughter ‘not alive’

Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter Maddie nearly died after an ATV crash

In 2017, Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter Maddie “drowned” in the pond in her back garden after crashing an ATV in the water, which flipped over and pinned her down. Jamie Lynn opened up about the incident in the jungle, leaving her fellow campmates horrified.

Jamie revealed: “I almost lost my oldest daughter… she drowned and we couldn’t save her. We tried really hard. She was trapped under a little side-by-side that we ride around our pond. This is in 2017. She was eight or nine or something like that.

“My father-in-law, my mother-in-law, me and my husband, we run to jump in to save her and you kind of, in that moment you think, ‘This is not real, she’s going to pop up, this isn’t real.’ I could feel her arm, and I’m jerking it, I couldn’t get her up because it’s a pretty heavy machine.

In that moment you think, you know logically she’s been under water too long… nobody can live if they’ve been under water this long. You logically are thinking these things.”

She added: “Then you hear the sirens coming. Thank god my mother-in-law, first thing she did was call 911… she was caught in the safety netting. So when they got there, she was not alive. They took her from me and they intubated her.

“I was sitting on the rocks, I’d thrown up on myself, the adrenaline, then I heard her [my mother-in-law] call my mum and say, ‘Lynne, we’ve lost Maddie.’ Then the fire fighter came over 3 seconds later and was like, ‘We’ve got a pulse, we’ve got a pulse.’

“They airlifted her… she’s hooked up on life support, breathing machines and all that… they come in, a priest to read her her last rights, and when they did, her body physically sat up, her spirit responded to it for whatever reason… She got better and better every day and walked out of the hospital.”

Husband’s car crash

Jamie Lynn tied the knot with Jamie Watson in 2014, and the pair went on to welcome a daughter, Ivey, together. But two years after their wedding day, Jamie was involved in a tragic car accident that killed three people.

Jamie accidentally got his uninsured trailer stuck when turning into a private driveway, which ended up in the vehicle obstructing the US-51 in his home state of Louisiana. Sadly, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck which was allegedly speeding crashed into the back of the stuck trailer.

As a result, driver Kaleb Collette, 28, and two passengers, Lee Ross, 27, and Kenneth Parnell, 27, all died. Another oncoming vehicle – an 18-wheeler truck driven by Corey David – was thankfully able to stop in time. Police found nobody was to blame for the crash.

David, the truck driver, filed a lawsuit against Jamie and his company Fluker Transporation LLC, which owned the private driveway Jamie was trying to turn down. David suffered physical and mental injuries from the accident also filing lawsuits against the late Collette’s mother Melinda and the insurance companies of all involved.

The lawsuit was finally settled by David’s insurance company, and police reiterated that no-one was to blame. The lawsuit against Watson was settled in 2021.

Exile

When Lynn revealed she was pregnant as a teenager, her family begged her to get an abortion – but she refused. It opened the doors for trolls to cruelly brand her the “worst human alive”, and said the “whole world came down on her”.

Jamie Lynn said: “[They] told me I was the worst human alive for doing so and that every young girl who ever watched my show was going to be ruined because of me and my personal decision.

Britney was kept in the dark about her sister’s pregnancy, while Jamie Lynn moved to a remote cabin with her mother Lynne and cut off from the outside world before giving birth. She revealed: “ “She came in and said ‘Is this a joke?’ I don’t think she really comprehended and she called my daddy.”

Things were “not great” for a while in the household, with Jamie Lynn confessing she felt “extremely guilty”. She went on: “I knew I had a lot of young girls who looked up to me and I felt that responsibility but at the end of the day I knew I would have to make a decision as a young girl myself, to do something that I could sleep with at night.”

She told ABC News in 2022: “I was a kid and maybe this is in my best interests and maybe this is what I’m supposed to do because of course I don’t want to be hounded by the paparazzi or tabloids or allow them to control my narrative. But it felt like I was really being alienated.”

Baby daddy’s car crash

Her baby daddy Casey Aldridge was injured in a car crash

When their daughter Maddie was just 10 months old in 2009, Jamie Lynn’s then-boyfriend Casey Aldridge was hospitalised after being badly injured in a car accident in Louisiana. Aged 19 at the time, Casey was involved in a single-car crash in the early hours.

He was charged with careless operation of a vehicle after losing control of his Ford F-150 truck, returning from a fishing trip. Reports at the time claimed it went off the hard shoulder, leaving Casey with a “cracked skull” and “in and out of consciousness”.

Jamie Lynn rushed to be at her boyfriend’s side amid reports that he was suffering a haematoma, with doctors worried about blood clots. Another passenger is said to have suffered a broken collarbone at the time.

Car accidents aren’t the only thing Jamie Lynn has to worry about when it comes to her ex Casey, as he also found himself in legal trouble. In 2020, he was charged for burglary by cops in Mississippi after trying to steal two rifles. He faced five counts of burglary of a storage house and one count of burglary of a dwelling.

He was previously arrested when cops found him passed out in a vehicle, with Oxycodone, Lorazepam, Xanax and drug paraphernalia found in the car. He was released on bail of $1,500, and handed a felony charge for possession and three misdemeanour charges.

He told Us Weekly: “I’m going to do everything in my power to better myself and not have to go through situations like this and make sure it never happens again. Whatever I need to do to do that — to not let it happen again.”
