ITV ‘offer to buy therapy for This Morning staff’ after Phillip Schofield affair

ITV executives have reportedly offered to provide therapy for the employees of This Morning amid the Phillip Schofield scandal.

It comes after host Holly Willoughby addressed This Morning viewers last week about Schofield’s affair with a younger male runner – and admitted she’s concerned for the “well-being” of everyone involved.

Since Schofield’s departure, presenters like Dermot O’Leary, Craig Doyle and Alison Hammond have stepped in to host the show.

Now, ITV bosses have allegedly offered to pay for counselling for ITV employees, including Holly.

A source told The Sun: “The executives recognize their duty of care towards their employees, particularly given the intense scrutiny they have faced during this public scandal.

“They have explicitly informed everyone that counseling is available should they wish to seek support.”

During her heartfelt statement on Monday, Holly expressed: “It feels very strange sitting here without Phil, and I can imagine that many of you might be feeling the same way – shaken, troubled, let down, and concerned for the well-being of everyone involved, with numerous questions swirling in your minds.

“You, me, and all of us at This Morning extended our love and support to someone who was not being truthful, someone who acted in a way that led them to resign from ITV and step away from a career they loved.”

She went on to say that the incident has been “a lot to process” and that it’s been difficult to “witness the toll it has taken on their own mental health.”

“I believe what unites us all now is a shared desire to heal and prioritize the well-being of everyone involved,” she finished.

Phillip, 61, has previously stated his career is “over” following the scandal and that he has to talk about TV in the “past tense.”

Talking about his future in TV, Phillip previously said: “I have to talk about television in the past tense, which breaks my heart. I have lost everything.”
