“I’d like to wish all who celebrate a joyous, peaceful, & warm-hearted Christmas and happy New Year. For those who find this time of year grief-filled, lonely or a struggle may your passage through it, be easy, with more smiles than you expect.”

After seeing his message, fans commented on his post to thank him for his kind words. One social media user wrote: “I’m one of those who seriously struggles as I’m completely on my own and December is an extremely nasty month in general for me so thank you for your kind words.”

Another also said: “Have a great Christmas break, Martin. Thanks for everything you do.”

It’s been quite a turbulent year for ITV’s This Morning. Things took a dramatic and downward turn when long-standing presenter Phillip Schofield quit the show and ITV altogether after he confessed he lied about a consensual affair with a younger male member of staff.

This was then followed by Holly Willoughby’s departure from the programme a few months later. This Morning was then placed under investigation.

A report by Jane Mulcahy KC, found no evidence of a toxic culture was found. Despite this, a former member of staff blasted the probe as they said it was “absurd” that only 48 people were interviewed in the process.

The insider told The Sun: “This ITV probe has been a complete whitewash. It’s disgusting. The fact that only 48 people were interviewed is a joke.”
