Kate Garraway mortified after ‘toe-curling moment’ co-star walks in on her on toilet

Kate Garraway was left rather red-faced after a co-star accidentally walked in on her on the toilet.

The “toe-curling” blunder took place after Kate, 56, headed into the Smooth Radios studios, where she hosts a weekday programme, before her shift.

While her laptop updated, she decided to take a nap which led to her waking up hours later and in a sleepy state she went to the loo.

But things then took an awkward turn after she forgot to lock the toilet door and found herself face to face with a co-star.

The toilets at Smooth Radio are also used by Classic FM staff at Global – where Alexander Armstrong works.

Kate told her listeners: “I’ve had quite the morning! Got in super early to do some work before coming on air to do the show on Smooth and my laptop needed an update.

“You know those annoying updates that you can’t avoid? I thought I’d just close my eyes for a few seconds while it does that.

“Next thing I know, it’s hours later. I get up, rushed to the loo to wake myself up. Sitting there in a sleepy state, I forgot to lock the door!

“Then Alexander Armstrong from Classic FM bursts in. ‘Oh my god, Kate. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry!’

“Oh it was toe-curling! I haven’t faced him yet – he’s still on air. I was so embarrassed!”

It comes after Kate shared a series of sweet snaps of her husband Derek gardening with their family.

The ITV presenter and her partner, 55, have faced heartache in the past few years, after he was diagnosed with coronavirus at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

Derek was left in a life-threatening condition and Doctors put him in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator.

He was in hospital for 13 months, and while he is now back at home with Kate and their kids, Billy and Darcy, Derek requires round the clock care for his health issues.
