Liam Payne fans 'already know' what Tommy Fury 'fight' really is – and it's not boxing

Former One Direction star Liam Payne recently teased an upcoming fight against professional boxer Tommy Fury, leaving many fans of both music and boxing in shock.

But plenty are sure that the pair aren’t advertising a fight at all, despite a teaser poster featuring the two fighting off in a boxing-like stance.

The event announcement, set to take place at Old Trafford in Manchester, simply said: “This summer – announcement tomorrow.”

Taking to social media, one said: “LIAM!!!! I can’t wait till tomorrow. Soccer Aid? Boxing? Ahhh I need to know.”

“That Liam Payne Tommy Fury thing has got to be a Soccer Aid announcement that they’re the captains or something,” someone else echoed.

Another agreed: “No way is Liam getting into the ring this is just a ploy for publicity (which I’m well aware I’m feeding into).”

While a fourth fan said: “Soccer Aid! Liam is captain for England and Tommy for the ROW.”

Others speculated it could simply be a prank.

On social media, one fan wrote: “What is happening? This has to be a joke!” while another said: “I’m so confused right now. I can’t tell if this is a joke or not.”

Despite the confusion, there are many who are excited about the possibility of the fight actually taking place.

Tommy Fury has been open about his willingness to fight any challenger, including influencers and celebrities, and has said that he is not in the sport for money.

In an interview with BT Sport Boxing, Fury said: “I’m not in boxing for money anymore because you know I don’t live the most extravagant lifestyle, I don’t live on yachts, I don’t buy all these fancy things, and I’m not really interested in that. I’ve got a car, I’ve got a place to put my head down at night, and I’ve got a family, and that does me.”

As for Liam Payne, he is not known for his boxing experience, having been heavily involved in cross country running before joining One Direction.

However, he has been keeping fit and working on his physique over the years, showing off his impressive physique during his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019.

It remains to be seen if the fight between Payne and Fury will actually take place, but it is clear that many fans are intrigued by the possibility.

The announcement is set to be made soon, and fans are eagerly waiting to see what happens next.
