Lorraine Kelly turns ITV show X-rated as chat with Hollywood icon becomes ‘naughty’

ITV’s Lorraine took an unexpected turn during the latest episode after presenter Lorraine Kelly went on a tangent about food and sex.

The 63-year-old interviewed British actors Ian McKellen and Roger Allam about their new play, Frank and Percy.

But as Ian playfully admitted that Roger was very particular with what he eats, Lorraine hinted that food can often be a replacement for sex.

She said: “Don’t you think sometimes when you get to a certain age, food sort of replaces sex in a way. Do you think?

However, as both men looked bewildered, Lorraine added: “I’m not saying totally replaces, I’m not saying that. I’m just saying the sort of anticipation of your dinner.”

“It kind of replaces the anticipation of.”

Ian replied: “Yeah, what it is – bananas and cucumbers.”

Lorraine responded: “Yes! You see you could, that’s a whole new show.”

“We should do a late-night version of this, could you imagine how naughty we could be?”

Ian then stated that most people read cooking books while in the bedroom as opposed to the kitchen.

But the raunchy exchange didn’t go unnoticed by viewers who headed to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One social media user joked: “Lorraine is looking forward to her sausage and mash dinner tonight after all that cookery porn talk with Ian McKellen.”

Another penned: “A mischievous @IanMcKellen twisting @lorraine’s words and talking about bananas and cucumbers on morning TV after she suggested a desire for good food replaced sex as you get older.”

Meanwhile, a third confused fan fumed: “What is the f*****g point of this ‘interview’?”

Ian and Roger’s new play Frank and Percy is a witty and poignant take on the unexpected relationship that develops between two men.

Talking about the new productionand the writer Ben Weatherill, director Sean Mathias said: “I cannot believe my luck in finding not one but two charming and original new plays for the season.

“Ben Weatherill (Frank and Percy) is a true young talent in the theatre. And to have reunited Ian and Roger after almost 20 years since we all did Aladdin together at the Old Vic is a real coup.”
