Lorraine tells GMB presenter 'I'd be worried for your job' after 'car crash' interview

Lorraine Kelly has warned Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley to be worried for his job following his interview with Matt Hancock.

Richard, 66, helmed Tuesday’s instalment of the ITV morning show alongside Susanna Reid and the pair didn’t hold back when chatting to the former Health Secretary.

As the former This Morning presenter questioned whether the ex-politician’s future was in showbiz, he didn’t directly decline when asked if he’d like to “sit in Richard’s chair” as a host on GMB.

After the interview, the duo spoke to Lorraine about what to expect from her show later on, however, the Scottish star couldn’t let the opportunity slide without sharing her thoughts on their interview.

“Well it’s always interesting to see what Lorraine makes of our big interviews,” Susanna said as Lorraine could be seen shaking her head.

The GMB host added: “And when she shakes her head, you know it’s coming.”

Lorraine responded: “I thought you showed great restraint there. Richard, I’d be worried for your job!”

“He’s coming after you,” she exclaimed, adding: “He didn’t say no, did he?”

“I’m perpetually worried for my job so what’s new?,” joked the presenter.

Taking a little swipe, Lorraine continued: “I think he thought this morning was an audition,” as Susanna agreed: “He did not rule it out!”

Unable to hide her feelings towards the idea, the 63-year-old chimed: “Oh for goodness sake, can you imagine? That would be interesting handovers in the morning!”

During their interview, the former MP was grilled over why he’d only given 3% of his I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! fee to charity as opposed to all of it like he’d promised.

“You gave £10,000 out of £330,000, why not give all of it to charity?” Susanna asked.

“I gave a substantial amount. I think it’s still decent and the money I donated is more than my MP salary,” he replied.

Viewers headed straight to social media to complain about the “car crash” interview.

One user penned: “The ultimate #carcrash interview on #GMB this morning! Embarrassing watching Suzannah and Richard talk to Matt Hancock! You could be asking real, and important questions and holding him to account – yet so fixated on money! Really poor interview.”

Another agreed: “This is some car crash of an interview #GMB.”
