Love Island bombshell Scott ‘dated Paige Thorne’ before signing up to show

Love Island’s new bombshell Scott van-der-Sluis is set to stir up chaos in the villa, but what many don’t know is that he has a connection to a former star of the show.

Scott, a Welsh footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Shelbourne in the Irish Premier Division, previously dated Paige Thorne from Love Island season eight.

Their relationship lasted for a couple of months in 2020, having met on the party circuit despite living in different parts of Wales.

Scott and Paige had a short-loved romance but it wasn’t a “serious relationship”.

A source revealed to The Sun, “It wasn’t serious with Paige and Scott but they had a great few months together.

“They met out on the party scene as Paige knows lots of footballers. It didn’t end for any reason in particular, just one of those things.

“They were both young and not looking for anything serious.”

In his entry interview, the 22-year-old stud admitted to enjoying the single life and struggled to maintain a relationship due to the travel demands of his football career.

“I’ve been single through my own choice, as well as circumstances. I’ve moved around a lot with football and I’ve been based in Dublin playing football for over a year.

“I’ve been single for three and a half years so it’s been a while so I’m ready and open to anything. I like a girl with a strong personality, who is independent and knows what they want.”

Love Island’s Anna May Robey also stunned fans when she revealed she knows the bombshell too.

The brunette beauty, who shot to fame on this year’s winter series, shared a snap on Instagram.

Posting a shot of Scott, who was teased to arrive in the villa last night, she said: “Secrets out!!! Hope all pep talks were worth it. Rooting for you.”

Scott’s teammates were said to be thrilled about his appearance and are likely to tease him about it.

In order to participate in the ITV2 dating show, Scott was released from his contract with Shelbourne.

Love Island’s popularity has soared this season, with catch-up viewership doubling the initial ratings. The show has attracted an impressive online audience of 3 million viewers, and its episodes have been streamed an astonishing 200 million times in 2023.

It’s the largest 16-24 year old audience on any commercial channel since the World Cup in 2022.

Host Maya Jama said: “The honeys were watching online! This season is elite.”
