Love Island fans ‘beg’ Ella and Tyrique to ‘spill the tea’ after ‘meeting before’

Love Island fans are begging Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde to “spill the tea” after confessing that they had “met each other before”.

The latest series of the popular ITV2 reality dating programme began last night (June 5, 2023) – and saw both boys and girls enter the villa in an explosive opening episode.

After host Maya Jama revealed the first five couples, as voted for by the public, award-winning model Ella discovered that she would be paired with semi-professional footballer Tyrique.

However there was an awkward moment when Ella confessed that she and Tyrique had met before – but Tyrique could not recall when.

“Do you remember we’ve met before?” asked Ella, to which Tyrique replied: “When?”

Ella could be heard telling the girls later in the episode too: “Physically he’s good looking and he’s my type, but I’ve met him before. There’s no way he doesn’t remember.”

After telling Ella, “We’ll chat in a minute,” Tyrique revealed he did actually know her, but did not recognise her as she had blonde hair the last time they met.

Their shock confession has left fans begging to know more about their connection outside of the villa, with many thinking there is “more to the story,” than the couple are revealing.

“There’s more of a story to Ella and Tyrique we need the tea #LoveIsland #LoveIslandUK,” wrote one viewer.

A second agreed: “The vibe between Ella and Tyrique is so awkward lmao like… I really wanna know their history fr #LoveIsland.”

“But seriously though need the lowdown on Tyrique and Ella?” penned a third, with a fourth saying: “Me ready for the drama after Ella says, ‘Remember we met before?'”

“What happened when tyrique and ella met bc as soon as he remembered he was GONE #LoveIsland,” wrote a fifth.

It was just one of many moments in the first episode, which saw further couples announced including André Furtado and Catherine Agbaje, George Fensom and Jess Harding, Mehdi Edno and Ruchee Gurung and Mitchel Taylor with Molly Marsh.
