Love Island viewers lash out at ‘pointless’ and ’embarrassing’ move by ITV producers

Love Island fans are blasting a savage move made by producers on last night’s episode as “pointless” and “embarrassing”.

ITV2 fans tuned into the launch of a new season as ten new singletons took their chance of finding love.

But the latest format, which sees the public choose the contestant’s partners, proved to be an epic fail for some of the couples.

As host Maya Jama joined the contestants to gather them around the firepit, she asked anyone who was unhappy in their couple to step forward.

Ruchee Gurung and Jess Harding were the islanders who took one step forward after being paired up with Mehdi Edno and George Fensom respectively.

The stakes were upped further when new bombshell Zackhariah Noble entered the villa and was told he could pic any girl he wants.

Fans dubbed the move “savage” saying the girls were forced to embarrass their partner for no reason.

“just making them out their dissatisfaction and embarrass their couple for no reason in savage,” blasted one player.

“so having the girls step forward at the end was basically just messiness for the sake of it because he was going to choose a new girl anyway. I’m here for it!” said a second.

“This is an insane move. There was no need to step forward basically it was pointless,” penned a third, while a fourth said: “Jess and Ruchee better keep one eye open that was savage.”

The remaining three couples were seen trying to know each other, while Ella Thomas and Tyrique took some time to make a connection and Molly and Mitchell were happy with their pairing from the start.

Elsewhere, filming for the new series of Love Island had to be stopped just hours after the ten stars entered the villa.

One of the islanders became ill on the first night of shooting in the Mallorca villa, with paramedics called to in to provide treatment.

The Sun report that estate agent Catherine Agbaje, 22, was seen by paramedics after having a “funny turn” during filming for the first episode on Saturday.

A source said: “Catherine started to feel ill during filming and she was seen by the villa’s medical team.

“Her welfare was the priority and filming with the other islanders and Maya was stopped until she was feeling better.

“It seemed the heat, nerves and not eating enough was the cause of her turn and she returned to filming not long after.”

Love Island airs nightly on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm
