Love Island's Davide admits he 'hasn't watched' 2023 series as fans slam 'boring' season

Former Love Island contestant Davide Sanclimenti has admitted that he “hasn’t had time” to watch the new series of Love Island.

The show returned earlier this year for it’s Winter version, taking place in South Africa instead of Mallorca, and as featured I’m A Celeb star Owen Warner’s ex and motorcycle racing legend Carl Fogarty’s daughter.

Despite this, Davide has told the Daily Star that he and girlfriend Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu haven’t been able to “commit” to regularly watching the show.

“I haven’t been watching and to be honest,” he exclusively shared. “I never watched the show before my series, [Ekin-Su and I] are busy so we can’t commit to it every night.”

“We saw a few of the first episodes but other than that we haven’t been able to commit,” Davide continued.

His confession comes after the series saw the lowest viewing figures in the last five years, despite excitement around new host Maya Jama, with the opening episode pulling in just 1.4 million viewers – one million people less than last summer’s series.

Fans have also slammed the recent season of Love Island, claiming it’s the “worst yet.”

“Can we just agree this series has been the absolute worst? #LoveIsland,” one wrote.

A second viewer confessed they’d stopped watching the show, writing: “I can’t even force myself to watch love island anymore it’s so boring.”

“Why is #loveisland winter season always so boring,” a third fan wrote, blaming the format of the show while another claimed the cast were the problem.

“Most boring season ever, petition for love island to be normal people again plssss @LoveIsland,” they commented.

Despite not watching the show, Davide offered a shoulder to any of the current contestants that may “need advice” after leaving the villa, stating that he’s happy to “be there.”

“If any of the boys in there need advice, I’ve been there so I know it can be difficult. If any of them come out and want to be mates I’d be open to that,” he told us.

Love Island airs nightly on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm
