Love Island’s Faye Winter throws support behind ITV shows social media blackout

Faye Winter threw support behind the upcoming winter series of Love Island as ITV bosses launch social media blackout for new contestants.

Ahead of the new series, which is set to launch on January 16, telly bosses announced a slew of new rules for the latest batch of sexy singletons looking to find love.

As the series returns to South Africa for the first time since 2020, contestants will no longer be able to have people running their social media platforms during their time on the show.

Usually, contestants have friends or family members keeping their accounts active throughout the series to rally support for them on the outside.

This includes screenshots from the show, or speaking directly to followers on Instagram which will be completely banned under the new regulations.

And it appears as though the changes have gone down well with former Islander Faye Winter as well as many fans online after facing a wave of backlash from viewers after leaving the show.

Taking to her Instagram Storm, the TV personality shared her thoughts on the new changes during a spontaneous Q&A with her 1.2 million followers online.

She said she wished the rule change had been implemented during her series

When asked if she would have liked the new changes to have been implemented during her time on the show, she replied: “For the welfare of my family and friends ABSOLUTELY [white heart emoji].

“But I do think what a bloody shame all because narrow minded people genuinely believe they can judge, torment and bully others based off of a 45-minute show which is highly edited and each person probably gets 8 minutes of airtime.

“Sad when you think about it but absolutely necessary to protect their innocent darling heads – people will moan and it will be those that caused it.”

She concluded: “In the famous words of all parents, you only have yourselves to blame, you big knuckle heads.”

It comes as rumours continue to swirl around possible contestants who will star in the upcoming series later this month as fans excitedly prepare for the upcoming series of love.

Most recently, it has been reported that Love Island bosses are hoping to persuade PrettyLittleThing model Chloe Baker to star in the new series.

The Instagram star, who already boasts an impressive 15,000 followers, has seen her stock rise after working with brands including fashion giants PrettyLittleThing and Lipsy London.

And with the programme launching in a matter of weeks, ITV bigwigs want Chloe to follow fellow model Tanya Manenga’s lead, who appeared to confirm she had signed up to the dating programme according to Daily Mail.
