Love Island’s Lana Jenkins reveals series 2 relative she’s ‘never met’

Love Island star Lana Jenkins has confirmed that she is related to series two contestant Rykard Jenkins.

The 25-year-old who appeared on the winter version of the ITV2 show earlier this year, left her followers stunned after she confirmed the rumours are in fact true.

In a recent fan Q&A on Instagram, Lana’s followers quizzed her on a number of insightful questions.

One fan asked: “Is it true you’re related to Rykard from series 2?”

Confirming the answer, Lana replied: “Our granddads are brothers, so yes we are although we have never met!”

Rykard rose to fame on the ITV2 programme in 2016 when he famously quit the show after his partner Rachel Fenton was dumped from the show.

However the pair’s relationship didn’t last outside of the programme.

In October 2022, news broke that Rykard – who now works as a professional aesthetics expert- split from his long-term girlfriend Sian Owen, who he had planned to marry.

Talking about his relationship with DJ Sian before the split, he told OK!: “Being with Siân is the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my life. I’m really happy to be with her.

“We got together at the start of lockdown. I was going through a really hard time because I wasn’t able to work, she stuck by me through thick and thin.

“I love her, I love her family and I can’t wait to ask her to be my wife one day. We’ve been together two years now so [proposing] is definitely on the cards.”

Meanwhile, Lana came runner-up alongside her boyfriend Ron Hall during the winter series.

Earlier this month, the couple, who appear to be going from strength to strength, confirmed that they are not quite ready to move in with each other just yet.

Talking frankly to The Mirror at the Pride of Manchester Awards she said: “We’ve only had about four or five days apart [since we left Love Island] but I think we’re just taking it slow.”

Ron, who was also in attendance at the event, said he would prefer to do things like “normal people” and get their own places first before buying a place together.
