Margot Robbie's former Neighbours co-star swoons over her in throwback snap

Margot Robbie is one of the most famous female actresses from the last decade – but her career kickstarted on Neighbours.

The popular Aussie soap was axed last year, but months later a reboot was confirmed as Amazon Freevee signed up to host the show.

Countless old characters returned for the finale, and some of the old favourites will continue to appear on the soap into the new series, including Alan Fletcher, who appeared on ITV’s Loose Women to talk about his return.

As he spoke about coming back to the soap, he was asked about Margot’s stint on the show, prompting him to describe her as a “star from the second she walked onto the set”

He praised the A-list actress as he added: “She’s very graciously said that we helped her in terms of her learning, but I think I probably learned more from Margot than she ever learned from me.”

Alan explained that Margot was a Jack of all Trades who would go from heartbreaking scenes to comedic so quickly, praising her as “amazing”.

A photo was then pulled up on screen as he discussed Margot which saw her looking very different in the old snap.

Fresh-faced Margot had her blonde locks pinned back with a headband as she flashed a smile at the camera, joined by her co-star Alan Fletcher who stood by her side in a suit.

Margot left the soap in January 2011 and didn’t return until she made a guest appearance in the show’s finale episode on July 28 2022.

Elsewhere in the show Alan spoke about Neighbours’ return to screens as filming resumes.

He said: “It’s very exciting. Next month we start work, the scripts are sitting waiting to be read,” as he said he doesn’t know what could be coming for his character.

He explained that the executive producer had come up to him after the show ended and asked if he would do it again.

Alan and his fellow co-stars “jumped” at the opportunity, but he explained that it was tricky keeping it a secret from the other members of the cast who were not set to return for the reboot.

The show is set to air in the second half of 2023 with new episodes steaming on Amazon Freevee.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
