Matilda’s cake-scoffing Bruce Bogtrotter star unrecognisable after major glow up

One star of 1996 film Matilda looks completely unrecognisable after losing an incredible amount of weight.

Jimmy Karz shot to fame in the classic Roald Dahl film adaptation as Bruce Bogtrotter – the boy who is forced to eat an entire chocolate cake by evil principal Miss Trunchbull. He starred alongside Danny DeVito and Mara Wilson in the hit kids’ flick – which was disgusting to film.

His co-star DeVito confessed Jimmy wasn’t actually allowed to swallow any of the cake he was eating with his hands, instead spitting it out between takes. And crew members were instructed not to wipe his mouth between takes.

Jimmy, meanwhile, was forced to wear the same chocolate-encrusted outfit for each scene and take – putting him off chocolate for a long time. Now the star has shed all his baby fat and totally transformed.

As a child actor, Matilda wasn’t Jimmy’s only project. He also starred in medical soap ER and The Wedding Singer, before changing career completely. The star later ditched acting to become a production assistant for MTV News, and volunteered as a teacher.

After that, he studied to become a doctor instead – ditching his acting roots to attend the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He confessed in 2015: “Through gardening, I learned a little bit about biology and chemistry, enough to realise I wanted to delve more into science.

“I went back to school to study biochemistry, which led me to medicine. I liked osteopathic medicine’s focus on helping the whole patient, and I was interested in learning manual techniques to help patients.”

The actor turned doctor has had a total glow-up

In snaps, the actor can be seen sporting a trendy beard and short dark hair, and in one snap posed next to a huge forest wearing a crisp white shirt – thankfully free of chocolate stains.

His co-star Mara has also moved away from Hollywood to focus more on voice acting and writing, after confessing she received “inappropriate” messages when she was only 12 years old. She also came across pictures with her head superimposed onto the bodies of adult video stars.

She told The Guardian: “I had people sending me inappropriate letters and posting things about me online. I made the mistake of Googling myself when I was 12 and saw things that I couldn’t unsee. I don’t think you can be a child star without there being some kind of lasting damage.”

Fans were also disappointed to find that Mara wasn’t the same as her character, as she added: “I saw that they were disappointed that I wasn’t as smart, pretty, nice, as they expect you to be. I think they were expecting me to be Matilda, and she’s wonderful, but she’s not real.”
