My Sister’s Keeper child star Evan Ellingson dies aged 35 at sober-living home

Evan Ellingson, best known for his role in 2009’s My Sister’s Keeper, has sadly died aged just 35.

The former child star died at his home in San Bernadino County, where his body was discovered in his bedroom at a sober-living home. Ellingson’s cause of death is currently unknown.

Evan hadn’t starred in anything for a decade prior to his death. Ellingson’s father confirmed his sad passing to TMZ and it has been reported that it “came as a complete shock to their family”.

It has been reported that officials have suggested there was no foul play involved in his death.

Perhaps Ellingson’s most famous role was in the drama My Sister’s Keeper, which was released in 2009 and saw him play Cameron Diaz’s character’s teenage son. Evan had a recurring role as Kyle Harmon on CSI: Miami and played him for 18 episodes over the course of a three year period.

Ellingson’s career started as a 13-year-old when he landed a role in a TV movie, after which he went on to a role in General Hospital. Following his soap appearance, Evan then moved on to star in Titus, That Was Then, Bones and 24 among other roles.

His movie appearances include Confession, Time Changer, Walk the Talk and Rules of the Game, but it appears his acting credits stop at 2010. It has been reported that the former child star had struggled with drug addiction in his past and on IMDB, it is said that his brother Austin died of an overdose in 2008 – just a year before My Sister’s Keeper was released.

On an unverified Instagram profile with the username @evanellingson, it appeared Evan may have started the account back in 2013. The account posted pictures of Evan on the red carpet, posing with Mel Gibson and in CSI: Miami.

The last picture posted on the account appears to be Evan and his brother Austin as children, with the caption: “RIP Austin, my older brother, miss [you],” with every word hashtagged. The account’s bio reads: “La Verne CA – Actor – CSI: Miami – My Sister’s Keeper – 24 – The Savages – much more to come, just started this page.”
