Netflix’s ‘Get on Your Knees’ is 90-minute long stand-up set dedicated to sex act

An oral sex-based stand-up comedy special called ‘Get on Your Knees’ is about to land on Netflix.

Comedian and actress Jacqueline Novak has been touring her outlandish comedy show as a one-woman band since 2019. After being a word-of-mouth hit, now the New Yorker’s saucy set is making the leap from stage to TV screen and will be available to watch on Netflix from January 23, 2024.

If you hadn’t already cottoned on, Get on Your Knees is a 90-minute bonanza focusing on the art of fellatio with a sprinkling of todger trolling. The phallus-focused set is a bitter pill for blokes to swallow as the first segment teases the macho language guys use about their members – from “rock-hard” to the ghastly “penetrate”.

Jacqueline also throws in a handful of steamy anecdotes along with an oral history of the sex act. After debuting her show back in 2019 at the Edinburgh Fringe, critics were blown away by the comedian’s whit, landing her ‘Outstanding Solo Performance’ Drama Desk award.

“It’s a philosophy of the bl*wjob, a spoof academic treatise on the bl*wjob, a personal history of bl*wjobs – and a full spate of ridiculous metaphors for the penis soft and hard and every which way to orally arouse it,” wrote the Guardian’s Brian Logan last year.

“It is subversive and also feminist, without ramming sexual politics down your… well, you can finish that sentence yourself,” Bruce Dessau of the Evening agreed, about the taboo-busting show.

Jacqueline, a Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon regular, has teamed up with Emmy-winning producer, Natasha Lyonne, who’s directed the Netflix special. The hour-and-a-half long set was filmed earlier this year at New York’s Town Hall, and has been described as a “concert film-meets-comedy special,” in a statement obtained by Variety.

Along with Jacqueline and Natasha, executive producers on the special are John Early, Chris Laker, Mike Birbiglia and John Irwin.
