New Luther Netflix film so scary viewers switch off as they 'can't bear it'

The brand new and hotly-anticipated feature-length Luther film dropped onto Netflix last week, but some fans were “forced to switch off” due to it being “so scary”.

Luther: The Fallen Sun dropped onto streaming platform Netflix on Friday (March 10), with fans of the franchise overjoyed to see Idris Elba back at the helm of DCI John Luther.

Upon the release of the movie, it was described as: “an epic continuation of the award-winning television saga,” leaving fans excited for what was in store.

But although fans loved the new crime-based movie, some thought it was “so scary” – which even left some “switching off”.

The explosive new movie followed on from the final season of BBC’s hit series, with the movie following the hunky DCI hunting down a gruesome serial killer who was on a rampage throughout London.

“Haunted by his failure to capture the cyber psychopath who now taunts him, Luther decides to break out of prison to finish the job by any means necessary,” the synopsis of the movie read.

Throughout the “tense” movie, Luther went up against tech billionaire David Robey, who was played by Andy Serkis.

But the crime drama seemed to get a little bit too much for some viewers, with many taking to social media to air their views and frustrations.

“Man hell naw I’m turning this off …sh*t is scary .. #LutherTheFallenSun,” penned one viewer.

Another added: “I think #LutherTheFallenSun is a very good thriller, an odd mix of Seven and James Bond. A bit scary for a timid soul like me.”

“#LutherTheFallenSun Beyond scary, brilliantly acted, edge of the seat stuff! Spent some of it with my hands over my eyes it was that traumatic,” penned a third.

While a fourth said: “Me and the daughter (16) are watching #LutherTheFallenSun we are switching off for 5 minutes just so we can breathe. How tense!!

“I’ve been holding my breath for 10 minutes straight, watching with a pillow in front of my face!! Great stuff from Idris Elba.”

Luther: The Fallen Sun is available to stream on Netflix now.
