Nigel Harman shares secret hippy dippy weapon giving him edge over Strictly rivals

Nigel Harman has an unusual tactic to beat his Strictly rivals… meditation.

The hippy hunk, 50, does the ancient practice all the time to give himself a boost. He said: “There is a big energy around Strictly and that is wonderful, but it is quite draining. If you’re not an extrovert, it’s quite draining. But meditation grounds me and keeps me in the present moment and stops me from getting away from myself. I do it almost every day and it helps me.”

Nigel is convinced regular meditation sessions are helping to improve his performances on the dance floor with pro partner Katya Jones, 34. He said: “It gives me the time I need to be quiet. To have a little time to catch your breath is great. And then you can go back out there and be larger than life.”

Casualty star Nigel has emerged as one of the frontrunners on this year’s series and is even being tipped to win. But he insists he’s not taking any notice of the excitement from fans. He said: “I’m not really on social media. I only go on there to post about meditation, so all I’ve seen are a couple of comments about meditation. I understand people have been talking about the reaction to my routines but I haven’t seen it.”

Last month, we exclusively revealed Nigel Harman had quit Casualty after just one year. The TV hunk, who played consultant Max Cristie, told Daily Star: “My time on Casualty is done for the time being.”

Nigel’s final scenes will be shown in February next year and he will sign off with a gripping storyline.

Nigel and Katya danced a Viennese Waltz to Stephen Sanchez hit Until I Found You on last night’s show. See if he survives the first vote-off in tonight’s results show at 7.15pm on BBC One.
