Only Fools and Horses legend Sir David Jason, 83, lands new TV show with BBC star

Sir David Jason has bagged himself a brand new TV job, but for once he won’t be acting.

The legendary 83-year-old actor has become a national treasure following his roles on beloved sitcom Only Fools and Horses and others like detective show A Touch of Frost.

But this time he’s taken on a presenting role on a new BBC Two series called Touring Toolshed with Jay Blades from BBC’s The Repair Shop.

The pair will take their Touring Toolshed across the UK in order to help members of the public “take their crafts to the next level”.

Sir David and Jay will get to meet the pubic and see their homemade creations – and offer them advice on how to improve the projects.

The series is currently filming and is set to air on BBC with 15 episodes that champion “amateur ­tinkerers and crafters bursting with inspiration from all aspects of the crafting world.”

Speaking about the new show, Sir David said: “It’s great to be back on the nation’s TV screens doing something totally different.

“I’ve played a lot of roles in my time but, to be myself, show off my creative passion and help the wonderful people we meet along the way resolve their mechanical masterpiece issues is very rewarding.

“I’ve really enjoyed being on the road with Jay where we have built up a great friendship and had a lot of fun which I hope the viewers will enjoy watching when it airs.”

Jay said: “Working with Sir David Jason, a fellow craft enthusiast is a dream come true.

“Filming is underway and it has been great to start helping the nations’ makers fix their passion projects. We’ve met brilliant people and this series is going to be a delight for the BBC Daytime and iPlayer audiences.”
