Ozzy Osbourne hid smelly secret message in song in homage to favourite movie

Ozzy Osbourne hid a secret message on one of his records as a tribute to The Exorcist.

The movie was famous for the line “your mother sucks c**ks in hell” – but the Black Sabbath singer recorded “your mother sells socks that smell” in reverse on a solo album.

Ozzy and his heavy metal bandmates were “freaked out” when they first saw the horror flick about a young girl, Regan, who is possessed by a demon.

The 74-year-old said: “Our manager came to us one day when we were on tour and says, ‘You have to go and see this film called The Exorcist’.

“We said, ‘The Exorcist? What the f*** does that mean?’ He said, ‘Just go and see it’.

“We were in Philadelphia in this f***ing movie theatre and we were s**tting ourselves. We were freaked out.

“Here we were, Black Sabbath and I’m the Prince Of Darkness and all this, and we had to see another
movie, The Sting, just to stop thinking about it.

“On No Rest For The Wicked, I put a message backwards: ‘Your mother sells socks that smell’.”

He and his bandmates Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler realised they could use horror to be successful after one of them said: “Isn’t it strange people pay money to see horror films. Why don’t we start doing horror music?”

Horror and rock music go hand in hand, though, and a number of musicians have appeared in spooky flicks over the years.

The late Chester Bennington, of Linkin Park, made a cameo in Saw: The Final Chapter, while Ozzy himself makes a small appearance in Trick Or Treat.
