Phillip Schofield ‘facing D-day over This Morning axe’ after speaking out on Holly ‘feud’

ITV is reportedly considering disposing of Phillip Schofield amid rumours that his This Morning co-host Holly Willoughby has turned against him.

Producers are said to be concerned about what the public will think of his evident rift with Holly Willoughby, which only worsened after Phil went public with a statement, saying the last few weeks “haven’t been easy for either of them”.

A source told The Mirror: “This Morning’s relationship with its viewers is built on trust, and they have to believe that Holly and Phil’s friendship, and what they’re watching, is real.”

The source continued: “While there was a bit of noise and speculation about their relationship cooling, it could have easily been ignored.

Phillip Schofield is losing popularity with viewers

“But by putting this statement out there, he has turned what was a manageable situation into a feeding frenzy. If viewers now no longer believe in the pair, and make their views clear next week, make no mistake, ITV will act.

“Phil’s position is looking increasingly precarious. Monday is very much D-day, but the same could apply to any day next week. No one is bigger than the brand.”

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are not close

An insider close to Holly claimed the TV star had no idea that Phillip was planning to release a statement, and first knew of it when she saw it online.

With Phil’s contract up at the end of the year, his time on TV could be reaching its conclusion.

Another insider pointed out: “Put it this way, Phil is not in the middle of a five-year deal.”

Phil took time off last month to coincide with brother, Timothy’s, sex abuse trial at Exeter crown court.

The 54-year-old pervert was convicted of 11 sexual offences involving a child between October 2016 and October 2019.

Timothy informed his sibling of some of the crimes in September 2021. However, the daytime host did not notify authorities.
