Phillip Schofield’s TV return confirmed after shock exit – and it’s just days away

Phillip Schofield will be back on our screens in less than a week, he has confirmed.

The veteran telly presenter announced earlier this week that he will no longer be fronting This Morning on ITV alongside his longtime sidekick Holly Willoughby.

Phillip revealed the shock development following weeks of speculation that he and Holly, 42, are embroiled in a bitter feud.

But it appears he will be back on June 6 to host the British Soap Awards, which is set to air on ITV.

In a statement, Phillip, 62, said: “I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.

“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”

Phillip’s replacement has yet to be announced but presenters such as Alison Hammond, Dermot O’Leary and even Stacy Solomon are said to be in the mix.

Fellow presenter Amanda Holden has even waded into the row and backed Dermot, 50, to now share the famous sofa with Holly.

Amanda previously fell out with Phillip after he reportedly went against ITV’s decision to bring her in to cover Holly’s maternity leave, preferring Rochelle Humes.

At the time, a source told The Sun on Sunday: “Phillip actively campaigned for Rochelle Humes to get the job despite Amanda being more experienced — and having been told privately she’d got the gig.

“She feels Phil unfairly used his powers of persuasion. She was told he’d chosen Rochelle because she was easier to “manage” on air – and understandably that incensed her.”

To make matters worse, Amanda also revealed that she had offered him an olive branch back in 2019 but it was rebuffed.

Speaking to her Heart FM co-host Jamie Theakston, the GBT judge shared: “I’ve moved on from it, Jamie, you need to move on from it.

“I did offer to meet him for a coffee months ago, he didn’t reply to my text. What can I say?”
