Rochelle Humes forced to get job ‘handing out leaflets’ after singing career ended

Rochelle Humes has revealed she was forced to hand out leaflets outside a supermarket after her singing career came to an end.

The 34-year-old was just a teenager aged 12 when she found fame in the tween pop S Club 7 spin-off band, S Club Juniors.

Rochelle was joined in the group by her future The Saturday’s bandmate Frankie Bridge, as well as Aaron Renfree, Jay Asforis, Stacey Franks, Calvin Goldspink, Daisy Shelvey and Hannah Richings.

The eight-piece band achieved moderate success during their time together from 2001 to 2003 – bagging hits such as Automatic High.

However, when the group ended, Rochelle had a bump back down to earth and had to hand out leaflets in Tesco car park.

Appearing on the Grace Beverley podcast, the mum-of-three, who is now a presenter on This Morning, revealed she had to get a “normal” job when it looked like her fame was over.

“So when S Club Juniors finished, I was like what am I going to do now?” she said.

“Because you hear about these child performers who have led like a really weird life. So after [S Club Juniors ended] I would like hand out leaflets outside of Tesco.

“And feeling really embarrassed because it wasn’t glamourous and now I’m being that person that’s handing out leaflets that no one wants to take them from.”

She went on to say how during her time in the group, she and her bandmates “were all earning good money.”

Rochelle added: “Like we could buy ourselves expensive things, and we all had nice cars, like we helped out our parents.

“But then it all ended – and so does the money.”

After her S Club Juniors stint ended in the mid-noughties, she went on to even more chart-topping success in the girl band The Saturdays.

As part of The Saturdays, Rochelle bagged 13 top ten hits, five top ten albums and embarked on four nationwide tours.

She also found love with her future-hubby Marvin Humes, from boyband JLS, in 2010 and tied the knot two years later.

Wanting to switch things up, Rochelle has ventured out into the world of TV too – bagging stints on This Morning, Ninja Warrior UK and The Xtra Factor.
