Ryan Thomas emotional as he recalls CBB ‘punchgate’ scandal with Roxanne Pallett

Ryan Thomas has revealed that he feels sorry for Roxanne Pallett five years after she fraudulently accused him of assualting her in the Celebrity Big Brother house.

The former Coronation Street actor and Dancing on Ice 2024 contestant has opened up about his time on the reality show with his brothers on their family podcast Mancs on the Mic. In the candid chat, he admitted that he signed up for CBB for the money and wanted to be “first in and first out”.

During his time in the famous house back in 2018, Ryan playfully tapped ex-Emmerdale actress Roxanne in the stomach. He said his fellow housemates completely disregarded him for a while but it later came to light that it was because the actress said he made her feel uncomfortable.

Distraught over the events inside the house, it wasn’t until the next eviction night that Ryan realised the outside world was in his corner and that Roxanne manipulated their co-stars.

“The night of [Scott] sending me that message which was emotional enough as it was… they then did the eviction and I got to hear the words, ‘Get Roxanne out!’ and I just released because I knew it wasn’t about me, I knew it was about her,” he shared.

“But when you’re in there, it’s one of the most lonely places that you can ever go to because you don’t know these people from day one; you’re building a relationship with people that you’ve never really met before, you’re in an environment where you’re being put out your comfort zone on all levels. It’s so weird I get emotional about it now because it’s over.”

Ryan, who is now engaged to TOWIE beauty Lucy Mecklenburgh, went on to claim you “can’t hide from who you really are in a show” like Big Brother and that it “can be quite a lonely and scary place” when you’re put in that environment, so he feels a certain level of sympathy for Roxanne, who “found peace” from the backlash a year after it all went down.

The incident divided the housemates back in 2018 and celebrity psychic Sally Morgan recently told Daily Star she knew Roxanne was a “liar” moments into the show. She said: “I saw it really early on with her. She had us all in the bedroom one night and was telling us about a house fire that had happened.

“I looked at her, and she looked at me, and I just said to her, ‘You’re not telling the truth. That didn’t happen’.” Sally added: “Immediately she just went, ‘It did, it did!’, I thought, ‘Oh my God, you’re a liar’.”
